Nassau Cruise Port (NCP) welcomed 28,554 passengers today – a new record for the expanded cruise port, with six ships alongside simultaneously. The “new” Nassau Cruise Port, centering around a unique, Authentically Bahamian experience, will celebrate its grand opening at the end of May with a weekend of private events featuring local and international entertainment.
“We are extremely pleased to report another record-setting passenger day here at Nassau Cruise Port. The expanded berths are certainly delivering on the sizeable investment that we have made in them, creating the additional capacity required to achieve this extraordinary new record today. Incredibly, our record today does not include the crew count, which is an additional 10,302 people at Nassau Cruise Port. That’s thousands of visitors exploring downtown Nassau, learning about our island and culture through our restaurants, taxis and tours, and making wonderful memories of The Bahamas that will surely drive them to return.”
The six ships in port today were: Royal Caribbean International’s Wonder of The Seas and Harmony of the Seas; Carnival Cruise Lines’ Mardi Gras; Celebrity Cruise Line’s Reflection and Beyond and MSC Cruises’ Meraviglia.
ABOUT NASSAU CRUISE PORT
Nassau Cruise Port Ltd. (NCP) will transform Nassau Cruise Port, the cruise gateway of New Providence, into one of the great waterfronts of the world. The company manages the cruise port and is currently redeveloping the port facility to enhance the passenger experience and increase business opportunities for Bahamians. The project will also see the construction of a new terminal building; creation of an event and entertainment area; investments in retail facilities; and the design and construction of new food and beverage facilities. It will integrate the port into Bay Street with the expectation that it will serve as a catalyst for the wider development of the downtown core. The company aims to complete construction by April 2023.
NCP began operations in October 2019 as part of a consortium comprising Global Ports Holding Plc, the Bahamas Investment Fund ("BIF") and the Yes Foundation. Learn more about NCP and this transformational project at www.nassaucruiseport.com
