Malaga Resumes The Promotional Trip In The Usa To Promote Cruise Tourism In The City

This is the first meeting with the main North American cruise companies

after the celebration of Seatrade Cruise Med

For the first time after the pandemic period, Malaga is once again taking up the promotional action in the USA on-site to promote cruise tourism in the port and the destination since, for the last three years, which has been carried out virtually.

The Malaga delegation, from Malaga Cruise Port, along with Malaport Foundation, Costa del Sol, Malaga Tourism Board, Port Authority, the Ministry of Tourism, and Tourism Board from Andalucia Regional Government will meet the main companies of the sector between the 21st and 24th February.

These meetings have the collaboration of Extenda and the Spanish Tourism Office (OET) in Miami, allowing to maintain the contacts established during the last years and to updating the information about the port infrastructures and services, as well as the offer of excursions not only in the city, but also in the province and the region as a whole.

The commercial action is the first meeting of Malaga with the North American companies after the celebration of the international cruise fair, Seatrade Cruise Med, last September, so it will begin to assess the impact of this event in the final decision of the cruise companies to include the city in their planned itineraries in 2024-2025.

The choice of Malaga as a homeport continues to be one of the main challenges of the delegation in these meetings, which aims to boost the local economy and benefit other tourism sectors. In this way, the cruise companies are shown the extensive airport, rail and road connections from the port facilities and also the hotel offer. This year, specifically, the celebration of the birth of Picasso, a unique event in this destination, stands out.

All this information is being explained this week to the heads of Ritz Carlton Yatch, Virgin, NCL-Regent-Oceania, Carnival, Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, The World, Seadream and Star Clippers, among others.

Cruise tourism, which had experienced strong growth in the years prior to the pandemic, has a high potential for development in Malaga and Andalusia in general, with the short-term aim of positioning the region as a top destination.
