Global Ports Holding Plc (GPH), the world's largest cruise port operator, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. John Mawer as the new General Manager for Liverpool Cruise Port, GPH’s latest acquisition and first port in the United Kingdom. In his new role, John Mawer will oversee the development and management of Liverpool Cruise Port, a key component in GPH's expansion within the Northern Europe Region. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, John will play a pivotal role in enhancing the port's operations and service offerings.

John brings over two decades of extensive maritime and port management experience. His career began with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, where he held several senior leadership positions, including Port Operations: Training Manager and Company Security Officer. Transitioning to the cruise sector in 2017, John served as the Cruise Manager at Liverpool Cruise Terminal. Most recently, he excelled as the Head of Cruise and Operations at Cruise Liverpool, demonstrating exceptional leadership and operational planning skills.
In addition to his professional roles, John currently serves as the Chair for the UK & Ireland regions of Cruise Europe and is a Director for the Liverpool and Manchester Port Security Authority. His qualifications are further bolstered by numerous professional certifications, including IOSH accreditation and Company and Ship Security Officer credentials, underlining his 21 years of dedication to the maritime industry.
