    Global Ports Holding and Peel Ports Group Receive Top Honours at Mersey Maritime Industry Awards

    Global Ports Holding and Peel Ports Group have both been recognised at the Mersey Maritime Industry Awards (MMIA) for their combined services to the Northwest maritime sector.

    The world's largest independent cruise port operator and the UK’s second largest port operator and were awarded the Maritime Campaign of the Year at a prestigious ceremony held at Liverpool Cathedral on Friday evening.

    Now in its tenth year, the MMIA celebrates the efforts of organisations which significantly contribute to the maritime industry, with both businesses standing out for their innovative approach and lasting impact on the North West’s sector.

    Global Ports Holding and Peel Ports Group were recognised for their ambitious £25 million collaboration to double Liverpool's cruise operations and transform the city's cruise terminal into a world-class hub.

    As well as doubling cruise activity, the agreement is expected to unlock new tourism opportunities and boost the local economy and makes Liverpool the only cruise port in the British Isles within the GPH network.

    Stephen Xuereb, Chief Operating Officer of Global Ports Holding, commented:
